devoured by loneliness

consciousness

Devoured by Loneliness

It had
been happening
gradually his
whole life
until it
reached a
point he
became aware
of it
but by
then it
was too
late to
do anything
about it,
not that he
wanted to.

His corporal
being was
thinning into
pure consciousness.

Consciousness
trapped in
a body,
when the
body dies,
dies with it,
but his
consciousness
escaped his
body before
that happened.

He was
invisible now
& trapped
in a
world vacant
of awareness
beyond his
own consciousness,
& with
nothing left
to reflect
on but
itself, his
consciousness
was devoured
by loneliness.
