An Unclaimed Child

Bewilderment.

Toxicity.

Emotional bondage,
dream packages
wrapped
in demands.

Step back
from choices.

Choice limits
options.

Choice is
a swift-river
tiger cage,
you can’t
get past
the bamboo.

You’re plagued
by small
snakes &
large rodents,
the harsh
cadence of
foreign tongues.

The secrets
of divinity
are locked
out by
sound bytes.

Eternity
slips away.

Your heart
would break
if you
knew all
that’s passed
you by.

There’s
nothing left
to hold
fast to.

Zen monks
fall by
the wayside.

Only an
unclaimed child
knows how
lost
we are.
