In the Aftermath of the Gigabyte

There’ll still
be dreadlocks
& the
tsetse fly.

Cuban cigars
&
red wine.

House arrest
&
breech birth.

Child rape
&
cock fights.

Nicotine
cocaine
& smack.

Crooked
politicians &
black ice.

Sales clerks
& Spandex.

Opportunists &
polyglots.

There’ll be
dashed
hope &
soiled underwear.

The Superbowl.

Health food
& Ebola.

Whole continents
wracked with
dysentery.

Manslaughter.

The scene
will stay
trivial.

Flash will
outshine
compassion,
cleverness
will trump
wisdom.

We’ll still
love our
children,
not because
they’re our
children but
because they’re
a glimpse
into what
we could
have been
if we’d
stayed organic.
