love call

Love Call

The joy
vein of
youth.

It all
comes flooding
out like
someone busted
open a
water main.

It’s the
sort of
thing drives
true believers
to drink.

To mess
around with
loose women,
smooth-talking
men.

To beat
their dogs.

Everyone else
whips out
their snorkels.

Pretends
they’re
on a
boat.

Reptilian
low crawlers.

Life according
to Noah.

Another weekend
slips by
then another
& weak
men come
unglued.

So much
disaster to
catalogue.

Out come
the calculators.

Things will
add up
eventually.

I give
my love
call like
a rampaging
bull elephant.

The earth
trembles
the leaves
rustle &
the referee
rings the
starting bell.

Many people
are frightened.
