A Life Not Yet Lived

When I’m gone
I’m gone.

Don’t bring
me back.

What you
bring back
is not me
it’s a
gross caricature
of what
I was,
something death
has already
laid
claim to,
something you
yanked
out of
a profound
transition.

Instead sponsor
a starving
child in
Africa Asia
or Detroit,
it doesn’t
matter where.

Save a
life that’s
not yet
been lived,
not one
that’s over.
