Apologies to the Muse

What a
fool I
was to
think I
could ever
make a
compromise with
my muse,
all tangled
in snakes
wearing
brass armor
her blood like
hot mercury
lacerated
green eyes
nine-inch nails
her heart
run thru
with spikes
& her
laughter like
thunder
because of
or in
spite of
it all.
