getting on with the ceremony

Getting on with the Ceremony

The clinking
of glasses.

The shuffling
of feet.

The scraping
of chairs.

A lapse
into coma
halfway
thru the
ceremony.

An ambulance
without sirens
two men with
a stretcher.

Clear the
stage of
misfortune
hand out
the awards.

Between the
lines where
our lives
are lived,
midgets with
Lugers,
corked bottles
barren of
news.
