epiphanies

Epiphanies

Walking down the
sidewalk at dawn,
smoking a cigarette,
a tree suddenly
explodes with
robins
swirling into
the air,
their bright
breasts gleaming
in the
blazing new sun.

I throw my
arms up
like a
symphony conductor,
one hand
still holding
the cigarette,
& let
loose a
wild burst
of laughter.
