making mistakes

Making Mistakes

You can’t
make the
same mistake
twice.

Mistakes are
like snowflakes,
no two
are identical.

But
when people
say
“I’ll never
make that
mistake again!”
& then
make the
next mistake
they think
it’s the
same mistake.

People miss
what’s important,
which is
the biggest
mistake of all.

We stumble
thru life
trying to
fix things
that
aren’t broken.

taking notice

Painting by Daniel Graves

Taking Notice

Gradually your
body means
less &
less to
you &
your mind
begins to
sit up &
take notice.

wanting & needing

Wanting & Needing

Not needing
anyone is
the first
step toward
not wanting
anyone which
takes another
20 or
30 years.

flagged

Flagged

I crossed
out the
tiny flag
in the
upper left
corner of
the first
page of
a new
yellow pad &
triggered a
digital recording.

“Put down
the pen,”
it said.
“Place the
pad on
the seat
next to
you.

“Place your
hands on
the steering
wheel &
await further
instructions…”

untitled

Untitled

Trapped in
all these
bodies,
nuggets of
awareness,
uncertain &
sometimes terrified.

old gunslingers

Old Gun Slingers

Old gun
slingers who
no longer
have bullets,
still walking
down high
noon streets,
their eyes
narrowed &
their six
shooters
low on
their hips.
