Checking Out

Somewhere
beyond
the pale
beyond
the dream
& the
written word
the shattered
rainbow leached
of color
beyond homo
sapiens the
wise guy
love child
of the
Mafia the
ringed fingers
of the
Pope the
ongoing
travesty we
dress in
fine robes &
blood sacrifice
the tiny
step for
mankind a
size-ten
footprint
on the moon.

Impatience is
a virtue
the urgent
need for
an end
to it
heritage &
tradition
the Bobbsey
Twins
of deception;
the only
truth is
a mother’s
love for
her new
born &
even that’s
gone askew:
crack
babies &
drunk babies
babies put
out with
the garbage
the monumental
sins of
progress.

We’re evolution’s
ogre not
the children
of God.

Young men
marching in
lockstep
their breasts
swollen with
obedience.

I’ve gone
into seclusion
slammed
the door
shut &
I’ll go
up in
smoke ß
if you
open it.

faster than light

Faster Than Light

I’m
writing it
down
faster than
it’s happening.

culture clash

Culture Clash

A good
way to
experience
culture clash
is to
read Zen
Mind, Beginner’s
Mind in a
Perkin’s restaurant
at six
in the
morning with
the Muzak
blaring.

Cleaning Tools

Short jabs
are like
scouring pads
a plumber’s
snake &
stiff-bristled
brooms.

capitalism

Capitalism

Capitalism,
supply &
demand–
corporations
demand
your supply.

bitterness descends

Bitterness Descends

It starts
with a
reaction to
the way
she moves,
to the
hotbed of
children in
the sway of
her hips,
to her eyes,
to her
milk-filled
breasts,
to the
raw bones
of
betrayal
under her
smooth skin.

And once
it starts
there’s no
stopping it.

The only
escape is
extinction.

Realizing this
saves a
lot of
useless involvement.
