faking a smile

Faking a Smile

It’s never
too late to
toss old
notions.

To come
around to
a new
way of
seeing things.

To recant
repent &
repeal your
pleas &
demands.

Change isn’t
out of
the question.

Spruce up
& it’s
yours.

I sense
you’re not
buying it.

I sense
you’ve reeled
into the
black pit
of experience.

& yet…
it’s still
there,
that gleam
in your
eye.

Miles past
wishful thinking,
you fake
a smile.

distractions

Distractions

It’s hard to
sit on
this hill
& write
when in
the rodeo
arena below
full-grown
men are
brutalizing
livestock.

right decisions

Right Decisions

Each day
I make
a chain
of decisions
based on
uncontaminated
awareness.

This keeps
me from
getting
sucked up
into the
Machine.

But still
they chip
away
at me
bit by
bit closing
one avenue
of escape
after another
& eventually
they’ll
have me
boxed in
along with
the rest
of you.

Scary Shit

Since I
left Facebook
people treat
me as
if I
don’t exist.

Scary shit.
