Losing Faith
I had
faith for a
little while
& then I
saw an
old dog
with an
eye gouged
out &
a leg
missing
standing in
the rain
& I
lost it
again.

Passing the
desk of
the receptionist
in the
office of a
storage warehouse
where we
were doing
windows today
I noticed
she had a
Faulkner novel
tucked behind
her computer.
She saw
me glance
at it
& got
an alarmed
look on
her face,
like I’d
blown
her cover.

about to
drive into
an ambush.

We call
the planet
mother earth
but in
reality she’s a
non-related &
soiled virgin
we’ve been
gang banging
for centuries.

More &
more I
prefer
isolation which
brings me
right back
where I
started,
two years
old &
alone in
the sandbox.
