passing over

Passing Over

There are
people who
think they’re
prepared to
die but
but when
the process
starts they
look startled.

losing our honey

Losing Our Honey

Sound the
clarion horn
blow your
penny whistle
let the
word go
forth spread
the news
here comes
the judge
blind justice
swinging her
meat ax
we’re all
going down
the good
the bad &
the ugly
the scales
will balance
out in
the long run
ten pounds
of hope
& good
cheer on
the chopping
block ten
pounds of
comeuppance
on the
waiting list
we can’t
kill the
bees &
still have
our honey
the grim
reaper has
made off
with our
honey &
there’s no
getting her
back again
there’s no
balcony to
stand under
& sing
our song,
no red
rose to
pin in
her hair.

buying splurge

Buying Splurge

Even I
have to
admit this
is getting
a little
ridiculous
but I’ll
stop in
at Bi-Mart
on my
way home
from the
hill anyway
for fifty more
yellow pads.

preparation

Preparation

People accuse
me of
being negative
when all
I’m doing is
preparing for
Armageddon.

reading the electric kool-aid test again almost fifty years later…

READING THE ELECTRIC KOOL-AID ACID TEST AGAIN ALMOST FIFTY YEARS LATER…

Bukowski &
Henry Miller
gave way to
Rumi &
Leonard Cohen
& Shunryu
Suzuki &
now
Tom Wolfe
of all
people
has grabbed
the reins.

Ah, grasshopper,
see all
that you’ve
missed says
Suzuki &
they all
sit back &
have a
good laugh.
