Jealousy
Jealousy isn’t
wanting what
someone else
has it’s
not wanting
what
you have.

Jealousy isn’t
wanting what
someone else
has it’s
not wanting
what
you have.

If Maurice
Chevalier
were alive
today singing
Thank Heaven
for Little
Girls he’d
be drummed
out of
show business.

My glaucoma
is slowly
squeezing out
my peripheral
vision.
Soon I’ll
be able
to see
what’s
right in
front of me.

Half
the world
is starving
& he
sends his
breakfast back
because the
eggs weren’t
done right.

Cancer travels
by night
down the
freeway in
big rumbling
trucks loaded
with Wonder
Bread Chicken
Nuggets &
other toxic
byproducts of
food for
which cigarettes
take the rap.

Walking down the
sidewalk at dawn,
smoking a cigarette,
a tree suddenly
explodes with
robins
swirling into
the air,
their bright
breasts gleaming
in the
blazing new sun.
I throw my
arms up
like a
symphony conductor,
one hand
still holding
the cigarette,
& let
loose a
wild burst
of laughter.
