What Lies in Store

I’ll give
you odds
that Donald
Trump is
oblivious to
the fact
that two
days after
he got
elected President
Leonard Cohen
died.

This more
than anything
tells you
what lies
in store
for us.

Whatever you
tell yourself,
don’t
believe it.

getting on with the ceremony

john-bennett-photo-portrait41

Getting on with the Ceremony

The clinking
of glasses.

The shuffling
of feet.

The scraping
of chairs.

A lapse
into coma
halfway
thru the
ceremony.

An ambulance
without sirens
two men with
a stretcher.

Clear the
stage of
misfortune
hand out
the awards.

Between the
lines where
our lives
are lived,
midgets with
Lugers,
corked bottles
barren of
news.

humanity’s strong point

Humanity’s Strong Point

The worst
part of
humanity is
also its
strongest part
& it
grows stronger
every day.

One Thing or the Other

Money isn’t
a substitute
for love,
it’s a
hinderance.
