the mountains
west of
the ocean
a promise
to write
home again
all the
things you
could have
done should
have done
at the
four points
of
the compass.
Instead you
made jokes
out of up
& down
tearing warning
signs from
brick walls
yellow ribbons
from oak
trees roots
straight out
of concrete.
The wild
dance the
quick blink
that hurtles
time bombs
into space.
All this
was possible
before you
took your
seat three
desks back
& let them
give you
instruction.
