what remains

What Remains

Thinking
of you.

The way
you used
to braid
your hair.

Brew coffee.

Give me
the run-around.

Keep score
hold grudges.

Recite dirty
poems in
the bathtub.

Bare your
breasts.

Of course
there’s more
to it.

Of course
you’re an
amalgam.

Of course
you live
in my
dreams cutting
capers &
prancing like
a gazelle.

You’re my
calendar girl
a love
note the
dregs of
romance
left over
from a
dark stretch
of loneliness.

Amazing how
much of
you still
remains
after
so much
devastation.
