The Myth of Magic
Sometimes the magic works, sometimes not. Actually there is no magic, but we carry on as if there were. This gives rise to a lot of sly blinks. Some people go so far as to jump in the air and click their heels. The blinkers and the heel clickers steer clear of each other. They’re not comfortable with what they have in common.
Pretending there’s magic is how we go about our business. It’s this pretense that drives the economy and justifies war.
