Dancing with Sufis
The Sufis
have it right.
Dance until
your legs
fall off.
But you
can dance
even if
you’re paralyzed
from the
neck down.
But not
the other
way around.

The Sufis
have it right.
Dance until
your legs
fall off.
But you
can dance
even if
you’re paralyzed
from the
neck down.
But not
the other
way around.

Give it a
solid beat
keep it
short simple
& meaningless
& they’ll
flock to
your door
flicking their
Bics &
chanting
your name.

Hoping
to be
understood
in what
you write
is the
most severe
form of
self censorship.

The fact
he’d been
class president &
wound up a
janitor was
a little
unsettling
for the
generals
doctors &
stock brokers
at the
40-year
class reunion
& proof
that the
System needed
tightening
from the
ground up.

The hamsters
of the
mind clot
your free-
flowing thought.
Impediments
rise up
like avatars.
Turn it
this way
turn it
that
spin it
round like
a top it
always loses
momentum &
falls down,
the fragile
dancer of
innocence.
The only
membrane
of protection
is recognition,
& it
wears thin
with time.
In march
the storm
troopers of
an orderly
world &
snatch up
the infants
of love.

People who
defines themselves
in terms
of a
political party
are as
much drones
as those
flying
machines we
send crashing
into villages
the unintended
victims
of which
we call
Bug Splat.
