the place where you can’t go wrong

The Place Where You Can’t Go Wrong

People
come &
go wither
& grow.

Expand into
hope collapse
into despair.

Be true
to your
first impulse,
it all
works out
from there.

The macrocosmic
expands
without end
& the
microcosmic
shrinks the
same way.

They meet
somewhere,
the infinitely
small &
the humungously
large,
at a
point where
size doesn’t
matter.

Give up
learning.

Coast thru
the moments
with love
in your
heart.

Chinese Checkers

I belong
to a
group of
people who
were on
facebook but
got off.

We meet
on Tuesday
evenings
& play
Chinese checkers.

Fireworks behind statue of liberty

Born on the Fourth of July

The social
disease that
caused a
lone gunman
to slaughter
people on
a college
campus in
Oregon is
the same
social disease
that
caused a
drone strike
in Kundoz
on a
Doctors without
Borders hospital,
killing twelve
staff &
ten patients.

We celebrate
this disease
on the
Fourth
of July.

learning to be alone

Learning to Be Alone

Unequivocally
& unconditionally
without absolution
or a
fringe of
second-thought
under a
mist of
surrender,
dreamless.

That’s the
way it’s
done to
exit thru
the entrance
door &
make the
questions
disappear.

Even the
sound of
one hand
clapping
goes silent.

the part that’s frightening

The Part That’s Frightening

It’s not
that they’re
out to
get me
that’s
frightening
it’s that
they don’t
know they’re
out to
get me.

spinning into chaos

Spinning into Chaos

I neutralize
exuberance.

Hit &
run
thru the
Pearly Gates.

A vigilante
of myth.

Puzzlement &
concern
wrapped in
a bright
yellow slicker.

& you
wonder why
the road
block &
the
flashing lights.

A language
with a
million words
& you’re
tongue-tied.

Gone the
days of
love notes
& shy
response days
when sunrise
& sunset
took
place in
different worlds.

When Never
Never Land
was down
the block
past the
candy store.

When happiness
kept popping
up all
over
the place.

When polar
bears lived
on meadows
of snow.

I’ll take
these things
to the
grave
with me
& the
world will
spin
into chaos.
