After the Race

Phase two
of the
donkey show.

Voices from
under the
floorboards
in a
house with
no
crawl space.

Seasoned
perfection
with
no moving
parts.

Life after
the spoils
are
sub-divided,
like plots
of land
speckled with
grave stones.

The loneliness
of the
long-distance
runner starts
when the
race is
over.
