Your Own Private Idaho

Sometimes I
get the
feeling that
there’s no
one on
the receiving
end of
the emails I
send out
that there
are no
real people
on Facebook
or in
the chatrooms
where people
supposedly
congregate &
exchange ideas
that
there’s not
a single
living soul
attached to
any of it.

There’s a
master computer
somewhere that
takes everything
anyone feeds
into
cyberspace &
uses it
to weave a
virtual web
around them
so that
soon without
realizing it
everyone
everywhere will
be trapped
in his
own virtual
world cut
off from
everyone else.

We may
already
be there.

saying what you mean

Saying What You Mean

People said
that’s wrong
you
spelled it
wrong it’s
out of
body experience
not outer
body &
he said
no I
spelled it
right I
spelled it
the way I
meant it
& they
said well
you can’t
just do
that you
can’t change
what something
means to
say what
you mean
& he said
I didn’t
& they
said you’ve
got a
problem man.

That may
be he
said but
that doesn’t
change anything.

terms of surrender

The Death of Cleopatra | Painting by Jean-Baptiste Regnault (1754 - 1829)

The Death of Cleopatra | Painting by Jean-Baptiste Regnault (1754 – 1829)

Terms of Surrender

I’ll surrender
if they
promise me
a death
without fear.

people thinking about the establishment

People Thinking About the Establishment

People think
he’s not
serious about
bringing down
the Establishment.

People think
they’re not
part of
the Establishment.

were we young once?

Were We Young Once?

Trying to
make amends.

Trying to
come up with
justifications
explanations
a calm
understanding.

Fractured memories,
distorted recalls.

This was
us on our
wedding day,
here’s the
birth of
a son,
the first
tear in
the fabric
of love.

There go
our dreams
down the
spinning drain
into the
dark unknown.

Was it
all make-believe?

Were we
young once?

a stroll in the park

A Stroll in the Park

The more
I learn
about the
nature &
evolution of
the universe
the more
I realize
what a
fluke humanity
is &
that one
day we
will vanish
in an
instant in
a cataclysm
that will
make global
warming look
like a
stroll in
the park.
