Writing for a Living

I’m being
paid good
money by
the curator
of an
aviary in
China to
launch a
PR campaign
to improve
the crow’s
image.

the enemy within

The Enemy Within

There are
Martians in
asbestos suits
swimming around
in the
earth’s molten
core,
waiting for
the signal
from their
leader to
attack.

The average
crow is

Last Page in the Yellow Pad

Some people
do a
lot of
preparation
for death.

They fork
out a
pile of
money for
a plot
of ground
to stick a
hand-picked
expensive
coffin in.

Or they
buy a
fancy expensive
urn for
their ashes.

Me,
I’ve got
three empty
Folger’s coffee
cans on
a high
shelf with
a note
Scotch-taped
to it,
written on
a sheet
of paper
ripped out
of a
yellow pad.
