Cleaning House
Time to
grow my
hair long
&
bring down
the temple.

Time to
grow my
hair long
&
bring down
the temple.

Writing from
the white
hot center
of obsolescence
he singed
the eyebrows
of a
tweet &
world.

Needing a
mirror of
Himself the
Prime Mover
spun out
humanity thru
a convoluted
process of
evolution.
No
He said
that’s not
right &
erased us
like chalk
off a
blackboard.

Seventy teenage
students
on a
bus pouring
out all
over the
hill marching
up to
the lip
of juniper
on the
edge of
the drop-off
shouting &
waving their
fists at
the mountains
as if
they’re
in charge
of something.

I went
to confession
after five
decades not
to get
absolution but
to have
someone besides
myself to
take my
secret with
him to
the grave
that I’ve
been writing
harlequin romances
under a
pseudonym for
the past
forty years.

Once you
say everything
you have
to say
say
everything you
don’t have
to say
which is
to say
outer-region
stuff the
twilight zone
emaciated
ribs jutting
out saucepan
eyes you
have to
cook up a
new vocabulary
wall yourself
in follow
your feet
without looking
down leave
your change
in the
metal cup
at the
grocery store
shut down
communication with
past loves
& imaginary
loves with
the gang
you rode
shotgun for
with your
father confessor
you have
to cancel
engagements
renege on
commitments
renounce.
You’ll be
surprised how
quickly the
new words
come a
bouquet of
vowels
sprinkled with
stardust.
This is
all as
it should
be don’t
look back.
Drive into
the heart
of the
never-ending
light.
