serious criticism

Serious Criticism

There’s been
serious criticism
of the
way I
comport myself
transport myself
spin around
the black
hole of
creation like
a smear
of bluebirds
still linked
to a
compass world
when time’s
come to
a standstill.

It’s a
frail pink
criticism,
I think
they’re
outraged
that I
don’t have
Scout badges
& diplomas
accolades &
grants under
my belt
that I
don’t show
up at
conferences
waving a
large poster
of myself
that
I’ve been
stripped down
to a
yellow pad
& a
ballpoint,
reveal secrets
& spew
blessings on
everyone.

relinguished dreams

Relinquished Dreams

There is
no more
happiness.

No more
tragic
disappointment.

Tragic disappointment
is a
reflection of
happiness.

There are
pleasant moments
& melancholy
evenings stitched
with memories.

Memories are
not feelings.

Memories are
echoes of
feelings.

They are
weightless.

This is
what happens,
eventually.

what is

What Is

The days
come to
an end.

The end
of the
apocalypse the
new beginning
with its
guidelines &
hammered-out
rules.

The thin
disguise
of the
prime mover
the great
perpetrator
the gladiator
defending
the unknown.

Everything
there is
is unknowable.

We live
in the
shadow of
emptiness.

The first
step to
peace is
to known
you know
nothing.

The second
step is
embracing
the first.

Then comes
the afterthought
that there
are no
steps.

Our minds
are in
opposition to
what is.

unveiled truth

Unveiled Truth

I may
have lied
in the
past but
mostly &
unwittingly
to myself.

Misshapen
convoluted
lies dressed
up like
a sheep
herder’s daughter,
full-breasted
with flowers
in their
flaxen
hair their
faithful sheep
dogs driving
off
unwanted
consequences.

Out of
the boneyard
of lies
the dark
spirit rises
up &
eats the
heart
of truth.

life’s suffering

Life’s Suffering

Being on
death’s doorstep
makes you
realize you
don’t want
peace of
mind you
want to
hear
dogs bark
& feel
rain on
your face.

just another hole in the wall

Just Another Hole in the Wall

Another crack
in the
wall another
hole in
the wall
another brick
in the
wall the
Berlin Wall
the Great
Wall of
China
wall-eyed
disappointment
walled in
walled out
waltzing Matilda
the Tennessee
Waltz Walt
Whitman Hank
Snow dream
girls
on a
cloud a
wall of
thunder torrential
rain &
hail stones
prophets born
in a
maelstrom a
sky split
down the
middle by
lightning
down come
the angels &
Humpty Dumpty
falls off
the wall.

Technology
shifts into
warp speed
& vanishes,
leaving our
ape dreams
clutching
clubs in
the moonlight.
